LORD WHITNEY STUDIO VISIT

LORD WHITNEY

Lord Whitney studio visit was inspiring, and one of the first I have been too where I found it genuinely beneficial. I admired how they showed us their worst work and how they started, it was encouraging as most professionals in this predicament show their best work. They decided to show their crap work, to show their development and how they got from A to B conveying it as a long 10 year span before they started gaining headway, now working for top companies such as Sony. Did I particularly like their style and approach? No. I respected how they have achieved what they have achieved in the manor they have done it. They were very humble, their studio was also very inspiring. Which a cheap budget, they told us they did not spend thousands and thousands of £ making their studio nice, they got a lot of their stuff from skips etc. Yet I loved their studio, it seemed like a great place to work. Talking face to face with professionals, gives you a more in depth look at their design approaches and imagination, you gain a lot more knowledge and advice this way.

Creative Directors Amy Lord and Rebekah Whitney opened the studio in 2010. Since then, their infectious, creative energy and willingness for progress has developed into a much bigger creative team that includes producers, designers, set builders and assistants. Everyone in the gang shares the same passion for creative thinking, crafting and innovation. The interdisciplinary overlap of skills and knowledge that the core team possess, allow them to function as a highly effective unit in the delivery of diverse and ambitious projects. In addition, they also regularly collaborate with a wider network of external professionals in order to deliver large scale creative projects. Whether that means musicians, psychologists, engineers, taxidermists, farmers or druids.
