CATCH ME IF YOU CAN INTRO

Getting handed so many briefs this year, makes PPP a lot harder. I tend to lend my focus to my uni projects, in doing this I stop creating designs during leisure. After being on the laptop all day to coming home and continue being on the laptop can really physically drain you. But I have a lot of projects I am looking forward to undertaking when I get a bit more time on my hands. Following my desire to create a proper gif, and the learnings from Saul Bass, I have watched what I would consider up there in my top animations. I believe this and Casino Royale to be some of the best animation design I have seen. 

Catch me if you can. A film by Steven Spielberg and a brilliant film. What I enjoyed most from the movie was the introduction to the film. You are shown a simplistic animated design that just flows for 3-4 minutes. Which looks and feels like a resurrection of Saul Bass himself. This design is enhanced through the soundtrack played with it which is composed by John Williams who made the famous soundtracks for Star Wars and Harry Potter.

A simple use of typography, allowing the type to roll off the design, but in a fluent fashion that goes well with the progression of the animation.

What also entices me on this design, is the simplicity of its production, it uses simple vector shapes and lines, I think this allows the animation to flow easily.

So why am I researching this animation? Because I plan to create one myself, using my own concept, which will apply a whole new depth to the design as I would like mine to tell a brief story. Following our book design brief I am looking into creating a book called hashtagbrutal it will be a 'brutal' take on the 21st Century. Mocking certain aspects such as, the ridiculous importance of the selfie. Donald trumps antics, or even the internet breaking 'Netflix and Chill' I want to reinforce the idea of how shallow and empty minded this generation has become due to the advancements in technology and other external influences. My idea is to take this concept further by producing an animation in a style similar to the Catch me if you can intro. I think if this concept was produced via animation it would make the general message much more meaningful than just simply creating a nice design.
